With under 3 weeks to go we are getting so excited for our first market of 2020 at Nutfield Lodge !
So we thought we would do a little rundown of everything happening on the day as we are proud of everything that is part of our market …
But before we get to that we just wanted to give you a few extra details. Entry is completely free for everyone, this is something we are really proud of as we know that it’s frustrating when you have to pay to get in … we’d rather you spent your money with the wonderful businesses at the market !
And we have free parking so you can park right outside. There are bus stops along the road between Redhill and Nutfield when the Lodge is located and we believe buses run regularly on Saturdays. Just look out for the banner and balloons to find us !!
So first up is the main attraction - the wonderful stalls from all the amazing local handmade businesses! With around 30 businesses it’s perfect for getting some handmade shopping done. We pride ourselves on selecting businesses who create beautiful high quality products, and ensure that we have a range of different crafts. There is 1 main room with an additional adjoining room with a few stalls so don’t miss out !
There’s so many amazing craft business out there from intricate jewellery to bold artwork, delicious cakes to beautifully made gifts. Here are just a few of the crafters who will be with us in March … We will be posting lots more photos and links on our social media so follow us on Facebook and Instagram!
One of our favourite things about the market is getting to meet all the amazing people behind the businesses. Come along and chat with the business owners, find out more … it makes supporting handmade so personal. We love buying gifts for loved ones at the market as you can guarantee a unique present that they won’t be expecting - oh and of course you will need to treat yourself to something too !!
Next up are our workshops … we have 5 workshops running at our March market. Each one is really unique and our fabulous hosts will teach you everything you need to know about the craft. We’ve got lino printing, giant knitting, mindful mandala painting, powertex and even terrarium making!
It’s a great way of trying out a craft before you buy any materials to use at home ! And so many of this month’s workshops are great for beginners - even the giant knitting doesn’t need any previous experience !!
Each workshop is pre-bookable (we recommend pre booking as they can book up before the day!) so just pop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or message us on social media to book.
Find out more about all the workshops here …
We also have our ever popular Stash Swap ! This is a great way of finding some new craft materials as well as being able to donate some of your unwanted stash…
It's super simple just bring any craft supplies you want to donate and pop them on the table. Then choose anything to take home - we have quite a lot donated so don’t be shy ! Grab anything that takes your fancy and get crafting !!
And don’t worry if you haven’t been able to part with anything in your stash … we have a charity donation pot there too so you can always pop some change in there in return. We are ever grateful for any money donations to our chosen charity.
Talking of charity we have decided on this year's chosen charity and are really excited to announce that we will be supporting Embrace. This is a local charity who supports parents in the Neonatal Unit at East Surrey Hospital. They are the only charity dedicated to the unit and the money raised goes directly to fund projects to support the parents during an often very difficult and worrying time.
Part of the reason we chose this charity is because of the wonderful community appeals they hold to collect handmade incubator covers and bonding squares. We felt that this is such an amazing way to put people's crafting skills to good use. Below are the instructions for how to make them. Bring along any you have made and we will then drop them to the charity so they will be put to good use in the Neonatal Unit at East Surrey Hospital.
One of the great things about having our market at Nutfield Lodge is that they have a separate bar area where you can buy drinks and light lunches too … this means that you can really make a day of it! Maybe come along in the morning, do some shopping or attend a workshop. Then you can grab a bite to eat, then a cake from one of our lovely stallholders and finish off with a bit more shopping (or even another workshop if you’re feeling extra crafty!!). It’s also great to make sure the kids are happy … feed them and buy a cake whilst introducing them to the wonderful world of craft !!
We are so excited for the market and hope that you'll join us for a crafty day out !
